So, I am trying something new and that I've never done before. Come to think of it, I've never actually even thought about doing it before either.
Anyone who knows me knows how prevalent cancer is in my life. My mother died from abdominal cancer and my little sister is a survivor of leukemia. (I would not be even slightly surprised to one day have some form of diagnosis of cancer for myself.) Therefore, I am a sucker for cancer foundations. I have been very involved with Relay for Life for the past 3 years. I have been able to raise over $1500 for the American Cancer Society. Being involved with Relay for Life has been one of my greatest joys and I love it. The cause is so dear to my heart.
A few weeks ago, I came across another cancer foundation that I want to get involved with. It is called the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. What really caught my eye was their event, Huntsman 140. Below is an ad for said event:
Because I only started training last week, I will only be doing the 25 mile ride. For me, its a bit tougher than I thought it was going to be. I have until June to get ready, but I feel like toast after 10 miles. Hopefully I will be able to double my stamina by then!!! :)
Anyways, I will (for my own benefit) keep track on my blog of all my workouts and progress. Click here to check my blog progress or search for me at MapMyRun, where I also keep my progress listed.
